Ghana Premier League defending champions, Ashanti Gold had their valuables stolen during the club’s pre-season friendly against Bechem United.

Thieves broke through the ceiling of the team's dressing room and made away with four mobile phones and a cash of 500 dollars.

The Miners engaged Bechem United in a friendly on Sunday as they prepare for the commencement of the Ghana Premier league and their champions league outing against MO Bejaia of Algeria on February 14.

Confirming the story to sportscrusader.com, Public Relations Officer of the club, Kofi Yawson said: “it is true that items were stolen. It probably happened during the match. We realised that our belongings were not there after the game.”

Mr. Yawson revealed that a cash amount of five hundred United States of America dollars ($ 500) and four mobile phones were siphoned.

“Four mobile phones and 500 dollars were stolen from the dressing room. The ceiling of the dressing room was broken so we suspect they broke the ceiling and entered.

“We have made a complaint to the police and they have taken over the matter.”

Ashanti Gold lost the friendly match 0-1.
