Ghana midfielder Moses Odjer is the fifth youngest player at the 2013 Africa Youth Championship which kicks off in Algeria at the weekend.
Information gathered by GNA Sports indicates Tema Youth midfielder, also a member of the Black Starlets (national U-17 team) is one of seven players, who are below 17-years and featuring at the tournament designed for players below 20-years.
Odjer, whose elder brother, Nicholas, also on the books of Tema Youth failed to make the cut for the continental championship ranks fourth on the podium of youngest players for the tournament as he will be 16 years 311 days on the opening day of the competition.
He is by far the youngest in the 21-man squad named by head coach Sellas Tetteh for the two-week tourney, also a qualifier for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey later in the year.
Meanwhile, the youngest player according to statistics from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is Gabonese midfielder Junior Bayhano Aubyang, who turns 16 years and 82 days on the first day.
He is followed by Beninois Bamidele Tokounbo Emmanuel who will be 16 years and 100 days, Gabonese defender Bilong Rodrigue at 16 years and 128 days whilst Malian Hamidou Traore is fifth, 16 years and 160 days.
Sebastien Miko is the sixth youngest player, 16 years and 216 days and Beninois Ulrich Quenum Maldinho in that order, 16 years and 346 days.
Ghana is housed in Group A alongside hosts Algeria, Egypt and Benin whilst holders Nigeria, Gabon, DR Congo and Mali make-up Group B.
The Satellites launch their campaign against Egypt on Saturday, March 16 in Aïn Témouchent.
