The Oguaa “Play Soccer Ghana”, Football for Hope Center will be officially inaugurated in Cape Coast on Saturday March 24, 2012.

The 250,000 dollar project, sponsored by FIFA and managed by “Play Soccer Ghana”, will use football to address education, health challenges and to promote social development in the Cape Coast Metropolis.

Mr Abdul Wahab Musah, Manager of the Center disclosed this to Mr. Ben Kwofie, Technical Committee Member of CAF, when he visited the Center to acquaint himself with the progress of work so far undertaken.

He said 95 percent of work on the Centre had been completed and assured that it will be ready by March 20 this year in time for the inauguration which is on the theme: “Play for fun, learn for life”; to provide education and sports to ensure community development.

Mr Ben Kwofie who was highly impressed with the work done, appealed to the people of Cape Coast to patronize the Center, which he noted has the sole aim of bringing hope and also to help unearth football talents in the Metropolis.

The project comprises of an office, library, computer laboratory, counseling room, a common space for community gatherings, toilet blocks and changing rooms for both girls and boys and a small size soccer pitch (40x20m) with state-of-the-art artificial turf and floodlights.

Play Soccer Ghana, an NGO, was selected by FIFA and Street football world in 2007 to manage the Center by using football as a tool to teach issues on health and socialization and to help create avenues for unearthing football skills amongst children between the ages of 5-15 in disadvantaged communities.
