Oguaa United draw with Akumpreku

Twifo Praso Akumpreku FC played a determined game to hold Oguaa United to a 1-1 drawn in their second division outstanding league match played at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Wednesday.

Playing under class one referee, Jeffery Amamoo, Oguaa United came close to scoring in the 25th minute but center forward, William Baidoo wasted the opportunity.


United continued to dictate the pace and in the 39th minute, Baidoo atoned for his earlier mistake to score the opener through a goalmouth melee. Praso Akumpreku resumed the second half strongly and launched a series of incursions in their opponent's vital area and it came as no surprise when fullback Stephen Darko scored the much-needed equalizer in the 54th minute.


In another match, Kasoa Bago F/C beat Ofaakor Odupon Heroes 2-0.

Nyameduase 'Kroye Kuo' FC wins MPs cup at gala

Bekwai (Ash), Jan 8, GNA - Nyameduase 'Kroye Kuo' Football Club beat Friends of Kapital 4-3 on penalties after drawing nil-nil at full time to lift the "Unity Cup" at stake at Asante-Bekwai at the week-end. Mr Kofi Opoku-Adusei, Deputy Minister of Women and Children's Affairs donated the cup to usher in the Right-Club gala competition for various groups in the town.


Nyameduase "Kroye Kuo" before reaching the finals, beat Peace and Love 3-1 and disposed of BD FC 3-1, while Friends of Kapital also beat Zongo Club 2-1 and eliminated Taxi Drivers 2-1.


Presenting the trophy to the winning team, Mr Opoku-Adusei, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bekwai, noted that the game of football bring people together and helps in fostering peaceful co-existence and togetherness.

Mr Opoku-Adusei said it was based on this that he decided to buy the cup to be competed for in the spirit of unity and harmony and gave the assurance that the competition will be a regular feature to bring the people together and bring about political tolerance.


In addition to winning the cup, Nyameduase received 200,000 cedis while the rest of the participating teams recieved 100,000 cedis each.


Breman United draws 1-1 with Jonart FC


Breman Asikuma (C/R), Jan 8, GNA - Breman Asikuma Great Breman United, played a highly spirited game to hold Gomoa Obuasi Jonart FC to 1-1 draw in their second division league match played at the Breman Asikuma Roman Catholic park on Sunday.
Jonart FC from the blast of the whistle seized the midfield and forced their opponents to defend most of the time.
It therefore came as no surprise when the visitors scored the opener through midfielder, Asiedu Sarpong, in the 37th minute, after outrunning United's defenders to slot home the opener.
The cheers that greeted this goal had scarcely died down, when substitute Massau Adam, outwitted defenders of United to fetch the needed equaliser.
