Bechem FC top star Augustine Okrah who has won most man of the match awards in the First Capital Plus Premier League has been highly tipped to grab the 2013 Premiership Player of the year.

If he is able to win he win emulate Hearts of Oak's ex-striker Mahatma Otoo who now ply his trade in Norway.

Two other players named by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) are John Owo of Hasaacas and Abeiku Ainooson of Asante Kotoko.

According to the SWAG, the player with the highest votes from the general public and its members will win the special prize from SuperSport.

Okrah who was unknown at the start of the season has worked very hard to be in the top three.

John Owu has also stepped up his performance in recent times and many members feel he could have made it to the World Cup, but missed the squad released by Coach Kwesi Appiah, while Abeiku Ainooson could be remembered for his exploits in South Africa at the CHAN tournament.

His performance with Kotoko has been on and off, however some sports journalists have tipped him.

The winner will be known at the 39th Awards ceremony to be held at the State House on Saturday, May 17.

Over 25 sports personalities and organisations will be honoured by the umbrella body of all sports media men in Ghana.

SWAG was founded in 1968 and has organised the event since 1974 under the presidency of Nana Oheneba Charles who is now a Patron of the Association.

SWAG currently boasts of over 100 members throughout the nation with other members in Europe and the USA.

SuperSports' involvement in the SWAG Awards will add touch and class to Saturday's event.
