....they have surprise packages for them
Accra, Aug. 21, GNA - Emmanuel Kwesi Afranie, Head Coach of Accra Great Olympics, has promised fellow premier clubs of surprised packages likely to change the tide, especially at the top of the table. He told the GNA Sports in Accra that the clubs will be making a very big mistake if they underrate the potency of Olympics based on its current standings on the 16-club premier league table without due recognition of other factors.
The Wonder club is currently pegged at the seventh position with 20 points and are far away from the leaders, Kotoko, which have 36 points. Coach Afranie said the second round which kick-start this Sunday will produce a lot of fire works and surprises adding that he will not be surprised if a lesser club dislodges the two top teams -Kotoko and Hearts- from their present positions.
He said his boys are poised for action and with a little bit of support from management and patience from the fans, "Oly should finish the league on a respectable position".
" Coach-Hene", as he is affectionately called, conceded though that there is need to work on his attackers to smoothen their rough edges before their first game on Sunday against lowly Stay Cool Professionals.
"My only problem now is who to plant the ball into the net; this is what I'm seriously working on", Afranie told the GNA.
He welcomes the move by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to hold a day's seminar for referees on Friday which he conceders as an important ingredient for the success of the Premier League.
Coach Afranie, however, urged the GFA to do a little more by tightening security at other league centres apart from Accra and Kumasi to boost the confidence of referees to take bold decisions. 21 Aug. 2003.
