Only one of the 107 dead victims of the stadium disaster who were sent to the 37 Military Hospital Mortuary is yet to be identified.

Thirteen other bodies have still not been collected for burial as at yesterday although their relatives have identified them.

Five of the 54 victims who were admitted to the hospital are still on admission.

The Administrative Officer (Medical) of the Hospital, Lt.Col. Sam Aninkora said although the five victims are in good health, there is the need for them to stay in the hospital for about 10 more weeks to enable their fractured bones to heal.

“If they are sent home they would be walking about and may break the bones again,” he added.

One person with a broken rib at the intensive care unit is also said to be in good health and responding to treatment.

Lt.Col. Aninkora told the press that people who claim to be victims of the disaster still troop to the hospital to demand money as compensation.

He cited the example of a gentleman who came down from Akropong in the Eastern Region of Ghana to with a swollen foot saying he was a victim of the disaster.

In all 126 people died from the disaster, which occurred on May 9 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
