Francis Oti-Akenten, Technical Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has expressed surprised at the decision of local coaches to snub the vacant Black Stars job after the football controlling body opened application for interested coaches.
Oti-Akenten, said the decision of the local coaches to snub the job was unfortunate and major blow to them.
The veteran coach said, local coaches should have submitted application for the job, because there were as many as 83 coaches with Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) license A certificates who were qualified for the job.
He said the sacking of former coach Kwesi Appiah should not be a reason for the local coaches to snub the vacant job.
“The fact that, one local coach was sacked does not mean that, the rest should give up and snub the job.
“I was even surprised Maxwell Konadu himself did not apply for the job, because he was duly qualified. I asked him about it, but I cannot disclose the reasons in public.” He stated.
He urged the local coaches to put the sacking of Kwesi Appiah and show interest in the job of the national team in future.
Local coaches decided to snub the vacant Black Stars job after the GFA invited applicants for the job.
Many of the coaches claimed the decision to sack the former coach was unfair, hence the snub.
