The great domestic rivalry moves on to the international stage TODAY when club giants Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko clash in the first leg of the African Confederation Cup final.

Hearts and Kotoko will become the first teams from the same country to contest a continental club final.

The two Ghana sides play in a tie postponed from last month because of presidential elections in the west African country. There were fears that political rivalry could spill onto the football arena.

It is the first final of a competition formed last year when the old African Cup Winners' Cup and Caf Cup were merged into a single competition.

A carbon copy of Europe's Uefa Cup, the Confederation Cup offered a second chance to second round losers in the Champions League.

Hearts and Kotoko won tough play-offs before topping four-club pools to reach the decider.
Hearts will host the first leg in Accra on Sunday with the return leg in Kumasi one week later.
The two finalists are both former African champions and enjoy a long-standing and fierce rivalry in Ghana.
Hearts-Kotoko clashes rank beside those between Al-Ahly and Zamalek in Egypt, Raja and Wydad in Morocco, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates in South Africa and Motema Pembe and Vita in the DR Congo as magnetic crowd-pullers.
A total of 126 spectators died in African football's biggest disaster four years ago when police fired tear gas into the stands in Accra to quell rioting supporters of the two sides at the end of a league match between the clubs.
Officials have promised heavy security for Sunday's match as well as the return leg.
