Accra, Sept. 16, GNA - The Professional League Board, (PLB) organizers of the national Premier League will soon embark on a tour of secretariats of participating Clubs to inspect their facilities. The move by the PLB is to enable it identify problems confronting the Clubs with regards to administration and the personnel manning such offices.
According to information gathered by the GNA Sports in Accra, Premier League Clubs are expected to have decent structures to serve as their secretariats with basic facilities such as telephones, computers, fax machines and photocopiers among others.
The exercise by the Board is also aimed at guaranteeing effective information flow from the football governing body, the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the organizers of the League and the participating Clubs.
The tour is however subject to approval by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
In addition, the tour will provide the PLB with a fair knowledge about the quality of personnel manning the various secretariats to enable them to develop capacity building programs for such staff members.
The source however said Clubs which fall below expectations of the PLB will be made to forfeit part of their sponsorship money for the coming soccer season to be used to provide the needed facilities and training for the affected Clubs. "The PLB has some marginal control over the sponsorship fund and we will use these channels to compel the Clubs to abide by our directives." The source stated.
In line with the exercise, unqualified personnel will be made to undergo some form of training to be organized by the GFA/PLB to update their knowledge in football administration. The source said, provision of communication facilities for the Clubs will ensure that decisions taken by the Disciplinary Committee, as well as information from the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) and other vital information are communicated to the Clubs on time. It added that the Clubs have been tasked to take steps towards the improvement of player welfare, which will also help improve performance on the field by the participating teams.
