Ghana striker Patrick Twumasi extended his rich vein of scoring form by displaying Usain Bolt-like pace to score and give FC Astana a surprising 3-1 victory over Polish giants Legia in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
Astana surprisingly defeated FC Legia in the first-leg match of the qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League at the Astana Arena.
Twumasi, who scored both goals in Saturday's 2-0 home victory over Tobol Kostanay at the same venue, hit the target late in the game to seal the unexpected victory over the Polish side.
Kabananga put the Astana-based club on the scoreboard in the 36th minute of the match.
Then, Ivan Maevski gave Stanimir Stoilov's squad a 2:0 lead.
Legia managed to respond with a goal from Sadiku in the 79th minute.
But Twumasi of Astana sealed the fate of the match with the third goal.
The second-leg match will take place at the Stadion Wojska Polskiego in Warsaw on August 3.
Twumasi has scored 12 goals for FC Astana this season.
