Ghana youth midfielder Paul Quaye has joined Spanish La Liga side Malaga on a two-year-contract after leaving Barcelona-based Espanyol, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.
The 18-year-old prodigious holding midfielder ended his four season spell at La Liga outfit Espanyol at the end of last season and completed his move to Estadio La Rosaleda last week.
“I’ve signed a two-year contract with Malaga and I’m happy to be here. I want to play football and continue my progress as a young footballer and I think Malaga will offer me the platform to grow,” he told Ghana’s leading online portal – GHANAsoccernet.com fro, his base in Spain.
Quaye, who was drafted into the Ghana U20 squad for the 2013 FIFA U20 World Cup campaign but missed out due to injury, becmae the youngest foreign player to have ever played in the Spanish top-flight when he marked his debut in March 2012.
Malaga manager Javi Garcia has called Quaye into his first team squad as they make progress in the pre-season.
Quaye is the nephew of Hearts of Oak great Shamo Quaye who is remembered for his game-changing abilities and qualities.
