Orlando Pirates coach Vladimir Vermezovic has backed Fatau Dauda to put behind him a disappointing season at club level and rise to the occasion at the 2014 World Cup.
“He is a good goalkeeper who works hard day in, day out. I work with him and it was unfortunate he couldn’t get more games under his belt,” Vermezovic exclusively told Ghana’s leading football website GHANASoccernet.com
“I have faith in him that he will deliver when given the opportunity, the unfortunate thing about being a goalkeeper is that your chances are limited compared to the up field players.
“We at Pirates are really proud that he will be representing us at the world cup and we wish him all the best.”
Dauda managed only three appearances for the Bucs despite arriving with a huge reputation of being Ghana’s number one goalkeeper.
His lack of game time at club level has seen fans call for him to be replaced by Adam Kwarasey who Stromsgodset in Norway.
The 29-year-old will be desperate to prove to Vermezovic that he deserves the number one shirt next season.
