Accra, April 10, GNA - Poly Group, producers of Poly Tank on Thursday unveiled a 150,000 dollar sponsorship for the Division One League (DOL) at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Secretariat. The deal confers the title of headline sponsors on the Polytanks Producing Group of Companies, hence the christening of the 2008/2009 edition as the "Poly Tank Division One League." Mr Ashok Mohinani, Executive Director of Poly Tanks Ghana Limited who announced the package explained that the amount represents the first year of a proposed 3-year association with the second tier of Ghana football. He said his outfit's decision to sponsor the league was based on their quest to support the development of football, especially at the grassroots level.
Mr Mohinani added that the DOL which is often referred to as the "wilderness of Ghana football" symbolizes the aspirations of the youth many of whom see soccer as a religion, hence the need for such financial injection to enhance the realization of their goals. "This is bound to generate enormous enthusiasm and interest throughout the country and also to utilize the newly created infrastructural facilities across the country. Metropolitan Entertainment Television (Metro TV), a private television channel will serve as the media partners of the Poly Tank Division One League.
Mr Alhassan Haruna, Deputy Managing Director of Metro TV said his outfit will provide media coverage for the League to the tune of about 378,000 Ghana Cedis in their quest to promote its success. He explained that the package is inclusive of one live match per week, delayed telecast and the promoting of the brands of the sponsors. Mr Haruna expressed optimism that Poly Tank Division One League will unearth talents for the various national teams.
Kwesi Nyantakyi, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) assured of the highest standards to ensure a professional and efficient league. He described the DOL as the only truly national league with a complete geographical representation, and appealed to other sponsors to come on board. The Poly Tank Division One League commences this week at the various approved centre.
