Power FC to honour retired official of ECG

Accra, March 22, GNA - Premier League campaigners, Power FC will on Sunday take on Accra Hearts of Oak in a friendly match at the Accra Sports Stadium in honour of Mr Fred Asante, a retired official of the Electricity Company of Ghana.

Mr Asante who retired from the company this year as the Managing Director has served the company for 40 years.


According to Mr Eric Mitchel, Team Manager of Power FC, the former Managing Director is one of the dedicated officials of the Company and has also played a role in the progress of the club hence their decision to honour him with an exciting fare well match.


He said Power FC will be approaching the match with all the needed seriousness and they will be using some of their newly recruited players like Cudjoe Addo of King Faisal and Fredrick Armah who joined the team from relegated Stay Cool Professionals.

Mr Mitchel noted that these players would combine with some old players of the club such as Dennis Odom, Douglas Nkrumah and Yussif Razak to give fans their money's worth.


While the match is expected to serve as preparatory grounds for Hearts for both the 2004 Premier League and the CAF Champions League, Power FC would also use the match to prepare for the 2004 soccer season as they have indicated their determination to pick a ticket in next years GHALCA Top Four Competition.
