Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari got his name on the score-sheet on the day he was handed the captaincy in a pre-season match against Manchester City though the English title-holders humiliated them 5-1 in a friendly.
The 29-year-old pulled a goal back for the Rossoneris three minutes before the break at the Heinz Field, but the Etihad giants went ahead to score again as they showed the Italians an idea of their own standards.
Playing his first game since the start of the pre-season, Milan manager Fillipo Inzaghi handed the armband to the Ghana international who was sacked from the Ghana camp during the World Cup, and he overly impressed though his team was unconvincing.
City were too slick and clinical for a poor Milan side who were left chasing shadows as they fell 4-0 behind with just 26 minutes played and the Italians have now lost their opening two ICC matches.
But before heading for the break, Muntari claimed a close range finish to hand Milan faint hopes but City went ahead to score another goal.
Muntari kept his head up to tap home a goal-mouth scramble in the 42nd minute.
Michael Essien was introduced mid-way through the second-half to replace Andrea Poli, but he could not help alter the fate of the game for his side.
