Mozambique could take advantage of Ghana’s injuries worries to earn their first points of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign in the reverse Group H fixture in Maputo on Sunday afternoon.
Despite going down 3-1 in the first leg played at the Accra Sports Stadium last Thursday, the Mambas showed glimpses of brilliance.
Head coach Faisal Abel Xavier will be counting on their stirred up second half performance to try and halt the Black Stars who have won all three matches.
His opposite number Avram Grant will be scratching his head on his game plan with Asamoah Gyan and Mubarak Wakaso all dropped from the squad that travelled to Maputo because of injuries.
Frank Acheampong and John Boye are being observed after picking up knocks in the corresponding fixture.
On-loan Malaga star Christian Atsu also could miss this second stanza because of injuries despite a flashy out in Accra.
But Grant remains confident of recording a double over their hosts who have lost all three Group matches so far.
"We always want to win. Mozambique is a good team, and we saw it in the first game. But I can assure you of victory even without out key players," the Israeli said.
A win for Ghana will all but confirm qualification to the Nations Cup finals in Gabon should the other scoreline go their way.
The match will be played at Estádio do Zimpeto in Maputo.
