The Management Committee members of the national U-20 female team, Black Princesses, have backed against the appointment of Bashir Hayford as head coach of the team.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA)’s decision to appoint the AshantiGold handler has been met by fierce resistance from the Management Committee members, who are questioning the ability of Hayford to combine the national team job with his club duties.
A credible source told GNA Sports that the Committee has demanded answers from the GFA, since the appointment of Hayford contravenes the stand to hire national coaches on full time basis.
The source said the Committee was equally unhappy with the confirmation of Edna Yeke as Hayford’s deputy for the team expected to take on Guinea Buissau in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers next month. The source added that the Committee insists only a full time coach plus a devoted and capable deputy can guarantee a good preparation and platform for the team that was overawed with embarrassment at the last edition of the World Cup hosted by Japan. So far, 26 players have begun camping at Prampram for preparations for the October 26 first leg scheduled for Accra.
