Prison Service beat Fire 2-0

Accra, Oct. 30, GNA - Prison Service started this year's Security Services Sports Association (SESSA) Games on a bright note when they defeated National Fire Service 2-0 in the opening soccer match played at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra on Saturday.

Charles Hoeyi and Andrews Bedai won the match for Prison Service when they scored in the seventh and 47th minutes of the game. Customs, Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS) also brightened their chances in the competition by pipping Police Service 1-0 in their match.

Prison Service went ahead to again defeat Fire Service 2-0 in the Tug-of-War competition while Ghana Armed Forces beat Fire Service 2-1. Fire Service however went ahead to beat Ghana Army 56-50 in the Basketball competition. In the 12-kilometre Cross Country competition, Police came first with Fire Service taking the second position while Ghana Armed Forces placed third.

Mr Ernest Akotuah, Head Coach of Prison Service told the GNA Sports that with the inclusion of some players of Premier League clubs in his team, they were poised to win the soccer trophy for the first time. The Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama would officially open the games on Monday, October 31.

The SESSA is an annual affair between the various security services in the country with the Ghana Armed Forces, Police Service, Prisons Service, Fire service and the Customs, Excise and preventive Services participating in athletics, soccer, hockey, handball, basketball, tennis and tug-of war among others.
