SOCCER promoters Euromarkint and FUFA are battling over the organisation of the lucrative Uganda versus Ghana Nations Cup qualifier due next month.

Euromarkint, an Italian company, were in 2000 unveiled as the national team's promoters by a section of the soccer governing body FUFA.

FUFA said the firm would promote national teams for four years through getting them sponsorship. The company sponsored Cranes during their home and away matches against Senegal and Togo in the Africa Cup of Nations games.

The Cranes later had to struggle without funds during the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup.

Euromarkint director Giacomo Albrieux wrote to FUFA on July 25 asking to be allowed to organise the Cranes v Ghana African qualifier on September 7. The company would meet costs for the Ghanaians and match officials, pay allowances and most importantly, print the match tickets.

FUFA secretary Haruna Mawanda said his executive was yet to decide on the request since Euromarkint had not lived to their word previously.

"There are a number of issues that we must put straight before making a final decision on the matter. Euromarkint has never helped us with the U-17, U-19 and U-20 yet they are supposed to get sponsors for all national teams," he said.
