African female champions the Super Falcons of Nigeria will renew their rivalry with their Ghanaian counterparts in February, officials have said.

Officials of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) have announced that the Falcons will engage the Black Queens in a friendly in Ghana as part of their build-up to the World Cup to be staged by China from 23 September.

Nigeria defeated Ghana 2-0 in the final of the African Women's Championship in Warri earlier this month to win for keeps the continental trophy.

However, Ghana made history at the same championship when they inflicted Nigeria's first loss to an African team at this level when they beat the Falcons 1-0 in one of the group matches.

Officials are also hopeful that the Falcons will test their preparedness for the World Cup by playing tune-up matches against top teams USA, Denmark and Norway.

Nigeria reached the quarter final of the 1999 World Cup in the United States of America.
