Queens promise special Valentine package for Ghanaians

Accra, Feb. 6, GNA - The senior national women soccer team, the Black Queens have promised Ghanaian soccer fans of a surprise Valentine package as they plan to maul the Super Falcons in a return leg of the Athens Olympic Games qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, February 14.

The two sides drew 1-1 in the first leg at Ibadan, Nigeria last week.

Skipper Genevieve Clottey gave the assurance when Mr Joseph Boadu, Managing Director of JOSBOAD Furniture Works presented items worth 10 million cedis to the team at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday. The items included 20 cartons each of canned coke and mineral water plus five dozens each of sanitary pads and toilet rolls.

Skipper Clottey was however evasive about what the package will entail but Mr Joe Aggrey, Deputy Minister of Education, Youth and Sports hinted that four or five live musical bands are expected to liven the stadium on the "D" day and boost the morale of the players.

Mr Boadu said he was motivated by the performance of the Queens in Ibadan and wanted to show his appreciation for their effort.

This is the second time the MD was donating towards sports development in the country, the first was two years ago when he gave a number of furniture to the National Sports Council.

The winner of the Queens-Nigeria match will clash with the winner of the South Africa-Angola encounter for the only slot for the African continent.
