Accra, Dec 6, GNA - Isaac Paha, head coach of the national female team, the Black Queens has declared that he is optimistic of victory over their South African counterparts, Banyana Banyana in Sunday's crucial Beijing 2008 Olympic qualifier.

Paha who said this on Thursday, when a delegation from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Ministry of Education, Science and Sports visited the team at their camping base in Prampram said the team will do everything possible to claim the maximum points.

"We will do our best to ensure victory come Sunday," said the former Black Stars defender who was in charge of the team during their abortive campaign at the 5th FIFA Women's World Cup in China last September.

Kwesi Nyantakyi, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) advised the Queens to eschew complacency in their quest to qualify for the first ever Olympic Games.

He said the GFA attach a lot of importance to the crucial game, hence the decision to shift the game to the evening to ensure total support on Sunday.

Osei Bonsu Amoah, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Sports promised the team that their outstanding bonuses will be cleared in time for the game and urged them to go all out to ensure a convincing victory.

The Queens lead the pack of the three-team table on six points, three more than their fiercest rivals the Super Falcons of Nigeria and a victory on Sunday would move them within touching distance of the quadrennial games.

The Queens beat the Banyana Banyana by a lone goal in the first leg in Johannesburg last August.
