Accra, Feb. 20, GNA - The national executive committee of the Referees Association of Ghana (RAG) has commended referees and their assistants for their high sense of professionalism and efficiency at the just ended Coca Cola Top Four competition.
A statement signed by Godsway Glah, General secretary of RAG and copied to the GNA Sports expressed the hope that the high standard exhibited during the competition will be replicated during this year's premier and other national leagues.
The statement praised the organizers, the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), for the incentive packages including such lucrative allowances, which contributed in no small way to the referees' excellent performances.
It urged GHALCA to make available its expertise and experience for them to be accessed by the organizers of the national leagues. The statement also touched on the appointment of Togolese referees to handle the Kotoko-Hearts encounter at the Kumasi Sports Stadium last Sunday, saying that it was normal.
It said Ghanaian referees have on several occasions handled matches in neighbouring countries including Togo, citing ace referee Alex Quartey who led a team of the country's referees to officiate in Nigeria in an FA Cup match.
