RTU Vice chairman eyes "Top Four" competition

Accra, Oct. 7, GNA - Since the introduction of the Top Four Competition into the calendar of the Ghana League Club Association (GHALCA), it has become of the primary goal of every club in the Premiership to participate in the competition which is becoming more lucrative annually.

Real Tamale United (RTU) football club, winners of the novelty Knock Out Competition organised by GHALCA has also set its eyes on the next edition of the competition.

RTU "The pride of North" defeated Kotoko by a lone goal to win the cup on an away goals rule after losing the first leg 2-1 in Kumasi about three weeks ago.

Mr Adams Munkaila, (Admun), Vice Chairman of RTU told the GNA Sports that the victory over Kotoko has given them the psychological boost to vie for bigger honours.

He said their major target after this success is to pick a place in the next edition of the Top Four competition.

Mr Munkaila was not perturbed by the intensity of the competition in the Zone A of the league, which includes most of the crack sides in the premiership saying "We have to pick one of the two places in our zone after the league to play in the competition.

According to the Vice Chairman, the players used to have a bit of psychological problem but are now in a good frame of mind to battle any club in the Premiership hence they are ready for any opponent. Currently placed fourth on Zone A of the Premier League with nine points, Mr Munkaila believes the target is within their reach and will definitely be among the first four at the end of the season.
