Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila has crowned off a memorable season in Kuwait by winning the best foreign defender in the Kuwaiti Super League.

The 23-year-old joined al Qadsia on a loan deal from Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa last season,and helped them finish 3rd before signing a three year deal with the Kuwaiti giants at the beginning of the current campaign.

The tough tackling defender has won more interceptions than any players in the league and is leading the aerial duels with just a game to end the season.

Sumaila a member of Ghana’s world cup team in Brazil has been tipped by the Kuwaiti media to move to Europe after what has been a remarkable season for the young defender and the club.

Al Qadsia will be crowned champions if they are able to beat Al Jahra in the final game of the season today.

If they pull it off Sumaila will join a league of few players to have won a league title in three different country having previously been a champion in Ghana with Kotoko and South Africa with Mamelodi Sundowns.
