Razak Brimah is likely to miss Ghana’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Guinea as his club – CD Mirandes – have refused to release the goalkeeper for the games.

The Spanish second tier club claim the invitation for their first choice goalkeeper came in two days late from the stipulated period.

FIFA obligates clubs to release their players to their national associations for competitive matches at least 14 days to the game.

But Mirandes claim the Ghana FA failed to send in their official invite within this period.

Brimah has since opened talks with officials of his club to soften their stance for him to join his Black Stars teammates currently in camp in Casablanca.

Reasons for Brimah’s late invitation is unclear but it is widely believed the decision to call him up was belated due to the expectation of Adam Kwarasey’s return to the team.

The Stromsgodset captain was widely tipped to make a return to the side in place of Brimah having criticized the goalkeeper’s trainer in the wake of Ghana’s disappointing run at the 2014 World Cup.

But reports suggests he made a late pullout from the squad which was yet to be released at the time due to an injury.

The 26-year-old however played for his club over the weekend.

This means interim coach Maxwell Konadu will be left with only two goalkeepers – Fatau Dauda and Stepehn Adams to choose from for the games against Guinea if talks with officials of CD Mirandes fail to yield results.

Ghana will face Guinea on Saturday in its third 2015 AFCON qualifier in Casablanca before returning home for the second leg clash a week after.
