Head coach for the National U-20 Female team, the Black Princess, Yusif Basigi has said, Ruth Anima would lead Ghana’s attack in the absence of his top striker Priscilla Adubea in the upcoming Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) World Cup in France from 5th-24th August, 2018.

Basigi told the GNA Sports that, though the team would miss the services of their top striker, they have equally good players to fill the void created by Adubea, who scored ten goals in the build up to the France tournament.

“We are really feeling the absence of Adubea in camp, but we have a replacement in Ruth Anima, who would be supported by Sandra Owusu-Ansah in attack.

“Normally Adubea would be leading the lines, with Sandra playing as an auxiliary striker, but we have worked on that and we are comfortable with Anima leading the attack with support from Sandra,” he stated.

According to Basigi, the team has been working so hard after coming back to camp to make up for the lost times due to the injunction on football activities in Ghana.

“For over two weeks now we have worked very hard and the girls have taken up the challenge and worked so hard and I am quite sure our hard work would yield us the necessary results, he noted.

Ghana is housed in Group A alongside France, Netherlands and New Zealand and would kick-start their game with host nation France on Sunday 5th August, 2018, with Basigi naming a strong 21 man list with three goalkeepers, eight defenders, five midfielders and five forwards.

The three goalkeepers are Agyemang Esther, Annan Martha and McCarthy Kerrie, with Hagan Cecilia, Tweneboah Justice, Amoako Linda, Anane Belinda, Badu Evelyn, Agbonadzi Shine, Asamoah Joyce and Asuako Philicity making up the defense.

The midfielders are Asantewaa Grace, Acheampong Grace, Abambila Ernestina, Anokye Olivia and Agyemang Adu with Obeng Helena, Anima Ruth, Patience-Kundok Peterson, Sandra Owusu-Ansah and Kulchirie Rafia -Alhassan making up for attack.
