Sampson Lamptey is new Hearts assistant coach

Accra, Aug 25, GNA - The management of Accra Hearts of Oak has appointed a former player of the club, Sampson Lamptey, as its new assistant coach, a statement issued in Accra said on Wednesday. Subsequently, the club's former deputy coach, Ofei Ansah, is to take over as head of Hearts' nursery team Auroras. The statement said the new appointments were in line with the club's systematic programme to prepare many selected old players for top technical responsibilities in the future.

Lamptey holds an intermediate high level coaching certificates from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and has had coaching stints with Osu De Gaulle, Jennesse de Abidjan, Feyernoord Salgado and Saint Mirren FC. The statement said the reason for sending Ofei Ansah to Auroras was to put the nursery team of Hearts in the right prospective with the view of ensuring that it achieves its core objective of nurturing player for the senior side.

It said Ofei Ansah's experience acquired over the years, first as a product of the same youth development programme, then as an assistant coach of the senior team would be brought to bear on Auroras. In the same development, Mr Sam Bortequaye, former coach of Auroras now becomes Ofei Ansah's assistant with an additional responsibility of scouting for new talents as well as other duties to be assigned him by the technical director. The statement said the duties of Salifu Ansah, goalkeeper's coach of the team has been expanded to cover the training of goalkeepers for the youth as well.
