Samuel Yeboah signs for Genk

Belgian outfit KRC Genk have finalized the transfer of Ghanaian striker Samuel Yeboah from Israeli side Hapoel Tel Aviv . Genk will pay Hapoel Tel Aviv 700k euros for the striker, who will leave Israel by Thursday to join his new team.

Yeboah, 23, is a target striker who has been plying his trade in Israel since 2005. He has became a household name in Israel especially since the 2007/2008 season, in which he scored 15 goals for minor side Hapoel Kfar Saba. Yeboah joined local giants Hapoel Tel Aviv for 770k Euros in the summer of 2008 and had a fantastic first half to last season, scoring 15 goals in 36 appearances for the club.

Yeboah's form has deteriorated in the second half of last season due to a personal crisis involving the death of his mother. Nevertheless he finished the season as the Israeli league's top goal-scorer. This season Yeboah scored five goals in 21 games for Hapoel Tel Aviv and the deal seems to be good for both sides, as Yeboah clearly wanted a move in the summer.

IMScouting's scouts in Israel describe Yeboah as a "strong, talented striker with very good positioning inside the box. Yeboah uses his strength to feed his team mates with good passes, and can hold the ball up front even if left alone despite being quite a diminutive player. The Ghanaian is a fast target striker, a real ‘number 9’ who is very good at changing velocity and is very fast. He is less efficient on the game when pushed to the flanks."

Genk is enduring a tough season in the Belgian top flight, currently lying in 13th place in the table after scoring only 22 goals in 20 games. The team clearly lacks firepower up front as its leading striker, Marvin Ogunjimi , has scored only five goals so far. Hungarian midfielder Daniel Tozser is the team's top goal-scorer with six goals.
