Hearts of Oak are making preparations to sort out the issue of its headship, and in the process, some familiar names have been posited. Vincent Sowah-Odotei is the favourite, but the never-ending speculation about Kudjoe Fianoo goes on.

The former league champions start the new league season on Sunday without a substantive leader, following the exit of incumbent chief executive Fred Crentsil barely four days to the start of the competition.

Mr Crentsil's two year tenure expires today, Wednesday, and he has publicly stated that he does not fancy another stint at the top of the club's hierarchy. The new Ghana FA vice president says he has communicated the decision to the club's Board of Directors, who are due to have an emergency meeting in the next 48 hours.

Supersport.com understands that long-time Hearts insider Neil Armstrong-Mortagbe has been mentioned again as a potential fit for the job, but sources say he is currently not interested as he is taking time off to focus on his private businesses. Both Armstrong-Mortagbe and Fianoo have been interviewed for the job in the past, but due to a lack of quorum, Sowah-Dotei was given the job.

Years on, the same names are in the boat again, but Fianoo and Sowah-Odotei are favourites because of their track record with AshGold and King Faisal respectively.

Outside chance for insiders

There is also an outside chance of Hearts' General Manager; Ashford Tettey-Oku could be given the job. The reasoning behind this assumption is that Hearts' board are faced with the dilemma of how much the imminent CEO will be paid.

Fred Crentsil refused to take any salary from the club during his tenure, but getting a new man will require enticements packages. The current financial state of the team has meant the Board has had to consider getting a new CEO from within its eleven members, just to avoid paying huge amounts to any prospective appointee.

As a result, Frank Nelson Nwokolo could also be considered for the position, because he has several years of experience in the managing aspects of the club's affairs.
