FIFA President Sepp Blatter has sent his condolences over the death of former Ghana coach and footballer Charles Kumi Gyamfi.
“Please accept my deepest condolences on hearing that former coach and Fortuna Dusseldorf player Charles Kumi Gyamfi has passed away. He was the first African player in Germany and as a coach led the Ghana national team to win the Africa Cup of Nations three times”.
He will be remembered as a great player and as one of the most successful coaches in African football, the FIFA President said in a letter sent to the Ghana Football Association.
“On behalf of the members if the international football community, I would be extremely grateful if you could extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.”
“We would hope that in some way, our words of support may help bring a little bit of peace and solace in this time of sadness”, the FIFA Boss added.
The legendary Ghanaian coach and footballer died on Wednesday September 2 in Accra after a brief illness.
