Shaaba Rejects Okwawu Offer

A FORMER Parliamentary aspirant for Nkawkaw constituency, Mr. Seth Adjei-Baah, has rejected strong calls for a take-over of relegated side, Okwawu United, following the resignation of the club?s chairman, Nana Aboagye Dumas, reports Isaac Franklin.

Top guns of Okwawu have had talks with Mr Adjei-Baah, a business tycoon who runs SHAABA Shopping malls, countrywide, as well as Nungua-based COCO Beach Resort, regarding the possible take-over of the club's management. The former Parliamentary aspirant is touted to form a formidable management team with businessmen as Nana Asiedu Donkor (Asiko), Mr. Kwame Ofosu Bamfo (Sikkens), but Mr. Adjei-Baah (Shaaba) maintains he is not interested in managing Okwawu.

?I?m not interested in taking up the Okwawu job, although I have been approached for it, Shaaba told Guide Sports, in an exclusive interview.?

Mr. Adjei-Baah added that, he would not be able to squeeze the Okwawu job into his busy schedule, stressing, he would continue to support the club, as usual. The soccer mountaineers were demoted to the Division One League, in the aftermath of their abysmal show at last year?s Premiership, and they are putting their bits and pieces together to bounce back to the Premiership. The soccer mountaineers have frequently had financial problems, despite possessing the largest number of wealthy gurus in the country.

Mr. Bamfo, for instance, single-handedly bankrolled Okwawu, for over a dacade. And it was the firm belief of the fans that the life patron of the club, Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng, would take urgent measures to bring on board all the preceding business tycoons to help revive Okwawu?s fortunes.

Ironically, the financial crisis of the club has led to lack of commitment on the part of its players, as a number of them are desperately looking for new clubs, while others have gone AWOL
