Simulation exercise for Ghana 2008

Accra, Dec 14, GNA - The Accra Venue Organizing Committee (AVOC) of the 26th MTN African Cup of Nations , Ghana 2008 has organized a simulation exercise to test the readiness of emergency facilities at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra.

The exercise carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Health drew health participants, selected hospitals in the capital, civil servants, Ghana Armed Forces, Ghana Fire Service, NADMO and Ghana Red Cross Society.


The personnel experimented the facilities with real life issues such as evacuating and treating the injured by administering first aid service.

Various demonstrations exhibited how fire fighters will handle fire outbreaks, handling of stampede and the treatment of participants who feigned injury in an illustration to climax the exercise. The personnel exemplified how various first aid services will be administered during the event that drew hundreds of people to the arena which is expected to host the opening and closing ceremonies of the Nations Cup on January 20 and February 10.


The exercise will be replicated at the three other venues of Sekondi-Takoradi, Kumasi and Tamale.
