Site of Play Soccer Ghana inaugurated

Cape Coast, July 16, GNA - Mr Charles Cobbina, Programmes Director of Play Soccer Ghana, a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) at the week-end inaugurated its Club site at Cape Coast in the Central Region. He said it is the objective of Play Soccer Ghana to give children from the ages of five to 14 years a "new platform" to discuss development issues such health, soccer and education as well as promote the voluntarism spirit.

Mr Cobbina advised the children to take both their academic work and sports seriously to enable them grow up to become great stars whilst urging them to be obedient.

He stressed that the survival of the Club would depend on regular attendance of programmes by the members and asked them to be punctual and take active part in all the programmes. The Club being sponsored by Play Soccer Ghana, in collaboration with Oguaaman Union has 150 children with Mr George Tachie Menson as the Site Manager.

Mr Ted Bernasko, President of the Union presented a number of books, footballs and T-shirts to the children.

A group from Hanover Park Village, in Illinois, USA, on Saturday donated two sets of jerseys, socks and 10 footballs to the Hanover Park School in Cape Coast.

Mr George Gorleku, a member of the group and a former member of the Black Stars domiciled in USA, said the donation was the group's contribution towards promotion of school sports in the country. Mr Francis Turkson, Headmaster of the School who received the item expressed gratitude to the group for its gesture. 16 July 07
