The team doctor of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Dr. Kwaku Boateng, has observed that goalkeeper Soulaima Abdoulae has a psychological problem which is affecting his play.

He consequently appealed to the media to refrain from unduly criticizing the Burkinabe international goalkeeper in these trying moments of his career.

Dr. Boateng disclosed at a press conference organized by Kotoko that Soulaima had reported to him that he was suffering from malaria so he wanted to stay away from the team whilst he sought treatment.

The Kotoko medical doctor said from his personal point of view, Soulaima was psychologically down, which usually happens to footballers sometime in their careers.

Dr. Boateng urged the teeming Kotoko supporters to rally behind the goalkeeper as he worked to return to his normal self, cautioning that heaping insults on Soulaima at this time would not help matters.

He particularly pleaded with media practitioners in the country to stop lambasting Soulaima on their networks and rather support him to overcome his challenge which was temporary.

Soulaima was recently accused of collecting bribe – an allegation he debunked – after Kotoko was surprisingly kicked out at the first stage of the Africa Champions League eliminations series.

Since that shocker, Soulaima, who without doubt is one of the safest pair of hands in the country, had struggled to maintain his old brilliant form which once made him the idol of Kotoko fans.
