Ghana Premier League Champions, Kumasi Asante Kotoko have parted ways with goalkeeper Abdoulaye Soulama, Kumasi-based Metro FM have reported.
According to the letter, signed by the General Manager of the Porcupine Warriors and chanced upon by Sportscrusader, both Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Soulama Abdulai have agreed to terminate their contract on mutual agreement.
When the player was contacted, he said, “I am the happiest man on earth. I am so happy today. If you play for a club with all your heart for seven years and they release you, you have to be happy. And I am happy today”, Soulama said.
The Bukinabe number 1 shot stopper has won 4 Premier League titles with Asante Kotoko, 1 FA Cup title and 2 Super Cup titles after joining the Ghana champions on August 16, 2007.
The 34-year-old has been told he is surplus to requirement and must now find a new club after his seven-year stay with the club. Soulama did not have enough playing time last season, losing his place to Joseph Addo.
Sportscrusader can, once more, exclusively reveal that a number of Ghanaian premier league clubs as well as some foreign teams are keen on securing the signature of the Burkinabe national goalie who is a free agent now.
The former Burkina Faso No. 1 lost favour with the club after it was reported that he had taken $30,000 as bribe when Kotoko played Barrack Young Controller in Liberia in a game the Ghanaian champions lost by 1-0.
Many believed the allegation leveled against him considering his performance for the Porcupine warriors up until that game against BYC.
