Sporting Kansas City coach Peter Vermes says the club will not be signing defender John Mensah following a training stint by the Ghanaian at the club.
The 32-year-old is desperate to secure a club after staying out for over a year with injury.
Mensah was with the American club last week but coach Peter Vermes confirmed he will not be signing the former Sunderland man.
“Yes there is [about whether reports of a move for Mensah is true] but he is not going to be here. We’re not going to take him,” Vermes said.
This is a latest blow to John Mensah’s quest to secure a new club in defying beliefs he is due for retirement.
The former Lyon man was an integral member of the Black Stars at their maiden and second participation at the World Cup in 2006 and 2010.
