Accra, May 9, GNA - Sporting Mirren gave their relegation blues an array of hope by toppling Sekondi Hasaacas 2-0 in their Week 17 Glo Premiership game played at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra on Saturday. Fresh recruit, Moses Andoh and Prince Boateng scored once in each half to give the ailing debutants a crucial win in their quest to survive the premiership.

After wasting several opportunities at both ends, Mirren took charge just after the half hour mark and with a goal beckoning with every initiative, they staged an invasion which the defence of the visitors built around Joseph Tekyi Mensah could only clear to corner. When an in-swing from the corner landed deep into the visitor's area, Andoh stretched over his markers to connect home from a close range, profiting from an area scramble.

Unsettled by the goal, Hasaacas made several mistakes and laboured to piece together any meaningful move thereafter. Mirren from then gained confidence but were unlucky not to have solidified the lead five minutes on when inspirational skipper, Frank Boateng had his well curled shot at goal deflected off a team mate on the stroke of half time.

Resuming the second half as the better side from recess, Mirren mounted pressure in search of another goal which will come only three minutes on. Advancing Boateng was fouled close to the Hasaacas' area to gift the host a set piece at the right flank.

Prince Boateng sliced the ball above the four-man human wall and through the fingers of goalkeeper Yeboah Wilson for the second goal that built on Mirren's confidence.

Hasaacas, in-between play, had their fair chances at goal but David Anas and his colleagues remained wasteful and purposeless till the final whistle.
