Shine, Stars shine!
Coach Sellas Tetteh and his charges have a huge responsibility as they begin their Group 5 World/Nations Cup campaign when they host their Libyan counterparts at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.

The enormity of Sunday’s assignment stems from the high profile stature that the Ghanaians have assumed after their maiden Mundial in Germany, vis-à-vis the visitors bid to apply the brakes on the home side.


But the Stars, aware of the repercussions of a slip before home fans are keyed up to begin the campaign not just on a good note, but with an emphatic win.


Striker Prince Tagoe returns to the team after two years absence, to replace Mathew Amoah who is down with a malaria ailment.

Prince Tagoe is to partner first choice striker Junior Manuel Agogo in attack. The arrival of the Premiership midfield aces- Michael Essien and Sulley Muntari, which will add some bite to the team which performed creditably in the international friendly against the Socceroos of Australia, exactly a week today.


The Stars arrived in Kumasi last Tuesday afternoon ahead of the big game, and indications are that optimism has reached pole position among the John Mensahs, Laryea Kingsons, Haminu Dramanis, John Paintsils, Hans Adu Sarpeis, Anthony Annans, Harisson Affuls and Eric Bekoes.


In a related development, The Hawks of Togo, the national Team A of Togo, commenced their campaign to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa an d the African Cup of Nations with a lone goal victory over the Chipolopolo of Zambia in a Group 11 clash at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra on Saturday.
