The Accra Representative of AshantiGold S/C supporters union, Dada Efah, has on behalf of the entire membership of the union congratulated the Obuasi club for their qualification to the next stage of this year’s CAF/MTN Champions League after beating Equatorial Guinea’s Renaciemento.

In an interview with Guide Sports in Accra yesterday, the Accra representative, said, it has being their long and cherished dream to see their idol club bounce back to continental competitions after their long absence of participation in almost a decade ago, were they reached the grand finale only to lose on penalties to Raja Casablanca of Morocco.

“In fact we need to congratulate our boys for going pass the first hurdle, something which we hope and know they will continue in order to qualify for the money zone before taking the continent by storm” he said.

AshantiGold who won the second leg encounter played at the Len Clay Stadium last Sunday by a lone goal to make the final scores 2-0 on aggregate after clinching a similar goal margin in the first leg encounter played a fort night ago, will now face Moroccan side FAR Rabat in the next qualifier.

According to Dada Efah, both the Kudjoe Fianoo led management and the technical team as well as the playing body needs to be congratulated for achieving this feat especially judging from the fact that most of the playing staff have never featured in any big competition such as the Champions League.

Players of the club, who received $1,500 each as winning bonus after their first leg victory a fort night ago, are reported to have earned $2000 in last Sunday encounter as winning and qualification bonus according to our investigations.

The Miners who are currently occupying the second spot on the Onetouch Premier League table after Accra Hearts of Oak, have promised that qualifying for the group stage of the competition remains their target for now.
