Kumasi, May 17, GNA - Some supporters and sympathisers of Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC have hailed the dissolution of the Sylvester Asare-Owusu-led management team by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. The Asantehene, the Life Patron and owner of the Club on Saturday dissolved the five-member management team due to non-performance and division among them and appointed a six-member interim management team to steer the affairs of the Club.

Soon after the announcement many of the supporters went into wild jubilation with the hope that the Asantehene's decision would help bring back the Club onto winning ways to restore smiles on the faces of the teeming supporters.

Speaking to the GNA Sports in Kumasi at separate interviews, the supporters urged the newly-appointed interim management team to learn from the mistakes of their predecessors. Mr Desmond Otuo-Tuffour, a staunch supporter and a sports analyst indicated that it behoves on the incoming management to strive to fashion out a proactive management structure that would bring all stakeholders on board to foster unity.

This, he said, was necessary in view of the division among the playing body, supporters and to some extent the technical team, noting that it was important for past management members to desist from back-biting after their tenure of office since that attitude over the years had impeded the club's smooth progress. Dominic Frimpong, a student and an ardent supporter urged the playing body to stop 'hero' worshipping of coaches and management members in the course of their work since they were expected to be professionals.

He said they should be disciplined and pre-occupied with the job assigned them on the field of play since coaches and management members were hired and could to be fired for non-performance. Madam Akua Serwaa, a trader commended the Life Patron for the bold and timely decision following what she said was the dragging of Kotoko's name into the mud by some stakeholders of the club. She said she was hopeful that all would be well with the fortunes of the Club now that a new management team had been constituted. The new management team is made up of Madam Helena Cobbinah, Reverend Osei Kofi, Alhaji Nje, Sarfo Gyamfi, Benjamin Nti and Opoku Afriyie. 17 May 09
