Nkwakwa, (E/R) Nov 06, GNA - Supporters of Okwawu United prevented about 15 alleged Air Force men from Accra and some macho men from Ashaiman from disrupting the Division One League match between Okwawu United and Tema based Seven United at the Nkwakwah Park on Sunday.

The confrontation thus led to the delay of the match for about 20 minutes as officials of Okwawu United led by the team's Interim Management Committee Chairman, Mr Anum Fran=E7oise and Mr. Seth Agyei Baah, popularly known as Shabah had to guard the Chairman of Seven United, Nana Aboagye Dumas from being assaulted by the angry supporters. When sanity had prevailed and Akatsi-based Class 1 referee, Samuel Sukur signaled the two teams into action at about 3:15pm, it was Seven United who dominated play at the initial stages of the game with Okwawu United returning the attack but in the 16th and 22nd minutes they wasted a corner and free kick near the 18 yard.

Okwawu continued to mount pressure on their opponents and rightly got the first goal in 28th minute when inside left Akwasi Boakye's header rebounded of the posts for inside right Samuel Twerefour to shot pass Kwesi Mbroh in goal for Seven United.

The taller defense men of Seven United managed to soak the pressure from the attackers of Okwahu led by Frank Turkson, formerly of Accra Hearts of Oak, as well as Atta Gyimah, Akwesi Boakye and Francis Kumi to end the first half.

The two teams made changes in the second half but it was Okwawu United who benefited and continued to mount pressure with the defense of the visitors United thwarting all their effort at goal.

After the match, the soldiers again entered the inner perimeter of the field to protect Nana Dumas from being assaulted by the Okwawu supporters but the police personnel on duty were up to their task as they managed to whisk him into their vehicle to safety.

When some of the supporters of Okwawu were interviewed by the GNA Sports, they accused Nana Dumas, a former Chairman of the Club of snatching some key players of the Club including Emmanuel Abito, Issaka Ibrahim, Azuma Nelson and Kwabena Adusei to feature for Seven United, his new team.
