Team Kotoko to Resign EM Bloc?

Less than 24-hours after the grand finale of the African Cup Winners Cup match, it now almost certain that an interim management committee would be put in place to steer the affairs of the club till a substantive person is appointed the new CEO of Kumasi Asante Kotoko. This may be borne out of the desire of the entire management team that steered the club to that stage of the competition to resign em bloc.

Indeed a management member of the team let slip, that enough is enough. This was after a confrontation between one of the management officials and media personnel at the Kumasi Sports Stadium.

CEO, Herbert Kwabena Amponsah Mensah had earlier hinted the affirmation of this decision with speculations running that he may do the Ade Coker, i.e. buy a team to nature to stardom.

Close sources suggest that Herbert?s decision would be strengthened by the failure of the club to lift the Mandela trophy. Faul finders already point to the inability of the Kotoko team to annex the coveted Cup last Sunday as a failure of the 4-year rebuilding process initiated by Herbert Mensah.

For now, some Board members would be too eager to accept his resignation. But the trouble point would be how to pay him off the over 5billion cedis the enigmatic CEO reportedly pumped into the club.

Already auditors are at work on the sum invested by Herbert for the financing of Asante Kotoko since his assumption in 1999 as instructed by Otumfuo Osei Tutu during the Board?s inauguration.

The audited financial report is not been made public yet but it is believed that, the Board would strike out terms to pay back whatever is owed Herbert over a period of time depending on the outcome of the report.

A payment schedule would be drawn with both parties agreeing to the mode. For now, no names havecome out yet but close sources say the Otumfuo would not hesitate to accept Herbert?s resignation. Already hard working Kennedy Agyapong has resigned his post even though he still backs the team ?in spirit?.
