Owvien, Delta State, Nov.5, GNA - Black Queens' skipper, Adjoa Bayor has said that the field would decide the better side when the Ghanaians come up against South Africa in the African Women Championship (AWC) semi final match at the Oghara Stadium on Tuesday.
The South African coach Augustine Makalakalane has triggered a =91war of words=94 ahead of the crunchy duel that qualifies the winner to the FIFA World Cup in the Republic of China in 2007, but the player says 93talk is cheap and we are all entitled to our opinions.
=93Its ok if they want to talk big, but our concern is to get the results on the field. Yes, the turf will always decide who wins=94.
The skilful midfielder told the GNA Sports in Owvien that the team was motivated to pick a slot to represent the continent alongside the winner of the Nigeria-Cameroon duel and nothing would stop them from achieving that vision.
Bayor said the Queens would go fighting for all three points and was buoyant that they would find that spark that had been missing from their game so far in order to prevail.
'We know we will play very well because for once it will be on a good pitch.
'All the pitches we have played on so far have been terrible and with this being far better, we will surely be in our element and fight to ensure we squeeze out a fine result'.
The player is yet to score in the week old event and her major concern is to glitter to enable the team glow in success.
Ghana whipped the Bayana Bayana 3-1 in their previous meeting in a Group opener in the 2004 event staged in South Africa.
Bayor reckons the South Africans would be on a revenge mission but said: 93We have prepared for all and we are willing get that fine result that will take us to the finals'. Both Ghana and South Africa have scored six times so far and conceded two each.
While the Queens finished first in their group with nine points, the South Africans came behind the Super Falcons of Nigeria with six points. Ghana is making a fifth attempt at gold and are considered among the favourites to win the competition. 05 Nov. 06
