News reaching FootballMadeinGhana indicates that three Ghanaian players have been detained in Zambia.
FootballMadeinGhana can confirm the detention occurred on Friday March 6 after it was uncovered that the players who play for top flight side Buildcon FC have flouted Zambian Immigration Laws.
In an official statement sighted by this website, the Department of Immigration, Zambia said their Ndola office embarked on a routine operation to screen all foreign staff employed by Buildcon Football Club at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
During the process it came to the fore that the club’s Serbian coach, Ivan Zoric was holding an expired Temporary Employment Permit. 12 players comprising three (03) Ghanaians, three (03) Rwandese, two (02) Congolese and one (01) Cameroonian, one (01) Burundian, one (01) South African and one (01) Ivorian were found culpable of either holding expired Temporary Employment Permits, overstaying their business visits or were in contravention of terms and conditions of their employment permits.
The 12 players and the Coach have been detained as a result pending further immigration formalities.
Buildcon FC is officially yet to respond to our request to know the identities of the detained Ghanaian.
