US-based trio join Queens in camp

Accra, July 19, GNA 96 Three senior players of the National Women Soccer team, the Black Queens joined their colleagues currently in camp at Obuasi on Tuesday ahead of their African Women Championship (AWC) qualifier against Congo Brazzaville, billed for the Len Clay Stadium on Sunday.

The trio, made up of utility player, Elizabeth Baidoo and defenders Mavis Danso and Patricia Ofori, all players of Chicago based Robert Morreis School, arrived in the country on Monday at the invitation of head coach Isaac Paha.

The Queens play host to their counterparts from Congo Brazzaville in a final eliminator that takes the winner over the two legs to the next competition scheduled for the Delta State, Nigeria this September.

The players are all influential members of the team that have at least featured in two AWC's and the World Cup each.

Coach Paha is hoping to record a decent win on Sunday in order to make the return leg scheduled in a fortnight an easy task by riding high on the experience of the trio among others.

The Queens are faced with a must win situation against the Congolese who enter into the game at the back of a fine record of 12-1 victory over Togo in their qualifiers.

Sunday's duel is the Ghanaians first in the qualifier after drawing bye at the earlier stages.

The players are expected to stay on and provide the desired inspiration for the team to triumph in the game, which pundits believe would be no match for the Ghanaians if they get in their elements and put their acts together.
