Accra, Nov 21, GNA - Three Ghanaian-born footballers plying their trade in the United States of America (USA) have attracted the attention of Black Stars trainer, Milovan Rajevac. The relatively unknown trio, all strikers and regulars for their respective clubs in the Major League Soccer (MLS), the elite soccer division in the World's most powerful economy have excited Milo due to their work-rate.
The players are Patrick Nyarko (Chicago Fire) and Dominic Oduro (FC Dallas) as well as an undisclosed player who the Serbian chose to keep his identity to his chest for the mean time.
Coach Milo told GNA Sports he has been following the exploits of the three players closely and would want to give them a chance to justify their inclusion for a place in his team. "I have been monitoring them for sometime now and will like to try them within the shortest possible time."
The Stars trainer explained that he intends to give many players as much chance in his quest to building a formidable team for the next phase of the qualifying rounds for the 2010 World Cup/Africa Cup of Nations.
Born in Kumasi, 22-years ago, Nyarko was spotted by Oliver Weiss, then coach of Virginia Technical University in 2005 whilst the latter was on a recruiting trip to Ghana. Weish recommended Nyarko who was then playing for Division One side, Kaaseman for the College team, where he scored 31 goals in his two-year spell.
Nyarko is being touted as the best player in the history of Virginia Technical University before joining the Eastern Conference-side this term, and has bagged a goal in nine appearances. For Oduro who is also 22, he made his mark during his tenure with Richmond Kickers, where he netted 16 goals in 13 outings following his transfer to the Virginia Commonwealth University from the University of Ghana three years ago.
In 70 games for the Texas-based club, whom he joined in 2006, the former Kumasi Prempeh College student has scored nine times in 70 appearances.
