Mandela National Stadium manager Jamil Sewanyana has assured Uganda Cranes fans of a comfortable seating arrangement during Saturday’s Nations Cup qualifier against Ghana.

Last Saturday, over 300 blue seats in the stadium pavilion were vandalised by Kyambogo University students during the University Football League final against MUBS.

Most of the blue seats were plucked off and hurled down onto the athletics track after MUBS beat Kyambogo 1-0.

It’s said that Kyambogo students were left frustrated by the defeat. Sewanyana pointed that the mess will be fixed with the help of the organisers of the University Football League.

“There is no need to worry. Everything will be fixed in time for the match,” he gave an assurance.

Following the hooliganism that had characterised the University Football League (UFL), organisers of the tournament chose to host the final at Namboole Stadium. Most of the league matches had been marred by crowd violence raising serious questions.

Riotous students have stormed onto the field during games disrupting play. Some of the matches have ended pre-maturely. Although the security team managed to control the students from interfering with play in the final, they could do little up in the pavilion.
