Hasaacas forward Samuel Afful proved the hero as Ghana fought from a goal down to defeat Zambia 2-1 at the ongoing Africa Youth Championships in Senegal.
Afful, a second half substitute who came on for Benjamin Tetteh, benefited from some good work by Prosper Kassim and Clifford Aboagye to slot home past Banda Mangani for the much needed winner.
The game had begun in the worst possible way for the Black Satellites as Dave Daka scored in the very first minute, leaving Mutawakilu Seidu helpless. Ghana rallied and in the 26th minute, had the equalizer through midfielder Asiedu Attobrah.
The scores remained the same until five minutes from the end when Afful had his breakthrough.
The result not only sees Ghana through to the semifinal, but also seals qualification for the 2015 Under 20 World Cup in New Zealand.
Joining Ghana in the semifinal and the Under 20 World Cup is Mali, who also fought from a goal down to beat South Africa 2-1, with substitute Hamidou Traore netting both goals for Mali.
Nigeria is also through to the semifinal after thrashing Congo 4-1 on Wednesday.
